Products available to buy online are stock items and are delivered within 3–5 business days from dispatch. Custom-size and bespoke products are supplied separately by quotation and are not available for direct online purchase. Large items travel on a pallet or two-person service and the carrier will call to book a delivery slot, so please check access and be ready to help unload. Full details are in our Delivery Information.
14 days to change your mind, then a further 14 days to send the goods back. We refund within 14 days of receiving them, including the standard outbound delivery charge, and we do not charge a restocking fee.
Return carriage for a change of mind is at your cost — contact us first and we can quote for collection on larger items. If anything arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, we cover the cost. Made-to-measure pieces are exempt from the cancellation right. Full conditions in our Returns & Refund Policy.
Our timber is vacuum pressure treated for above-ground outdoor use, so it does not need treating for protection. Left alone it weathers to a soft silver-grey over a season or two; a coat of exterior wood oil or stain every two to three years holds the original honey tone.
Wood is a natural material. Variation in grain and colour, fine surface checking, small knots and resin bleed are normal characteristics and are not faults. Brush out fallen leaves each autumn, and do not seal the open base — free drainage is what keeps the timber sound.
We build to size. Send your measurements to support@simplywooduk.com or call 0800 118 5141 and we will quote, including a realistic lead time, before you commit to anything.
Built in our Wheldrake workshop near York, this square garden planter is cut from solid pressure-treated softwood and finished with a wide capping rail that softens every edge and doubles as a place to rest a trowel.
The box measures 50 cm along each side and stands 40 cm tall, holding roughly 80 litres of compost. Corner posts are drawn together with countersunk stainless steel screws and an internal batten keeps the frame square when the soil is fully saturated.
A permeable liner is fitted before dispatch to slow moisture loss and stop compost washing through the slat joints. The open base drains freely and short feet lift the lowest slat clear of standing water.
Supplied fully assembled. It suits bay, olive and box topiary, ornamental grasses, bedding schemes or a mixed kitchen herb display. Plants and compost are not included.

This planter is supplied fully assembled and measures 50 cm across, so check that gates, side returns and passageways give you at least 50 cm of clear width before you order. Planters and raised beds are bulky goods, so they travel on a pallet or a two-person service rather than a standard parcel round. The carrier will contact you to arrange a slot. Delivery is made to the kerbside or the nearest safe hard-standing point, not into the garden or through the house, so please make sure there is clear vehicle access and that someone is available to help move the item the last few metres. Full details are in our delivery policy.
Brush out fallen leaves and debris each autumn, and lift the planter clear of standing water over winter where you can. Re-coat with an exterior wood oil or stain every two to three years if you would rather keep a darker, freshly finished tone; left alone, the natural timber weathers to a soft silver-grey over a season or two. Do not seal the open base, as free drainage is what keeps the timber sound. There is fuller guidance on our timber care page.
Please check the planter over as soon as it arrives. If it is damaged, faulty or not what you ordered, email support@simplywooduk.com or call 0800 118 5141 free with your order number and a photograph, and we will put it right at our own cost by repair, replacement or refund. You will never be asked to pay carriage on an item that is not as it should be. Within 30 days of delivery you have the short-term right to reject faulty goods for a full refund, and up to six months you can ask for a repair or replacement. Variation in grain, colour and knot pattern, and small surface cracks, resin bleed or greying as the wood seasons, are normal characteristics of natural timber rather than faults. Full detail is in our returns and refund policy.
The size shown on this page is a stock item that you can buy online now. We can also build this design to your own measurements in the Wheldrake workshop: custom-size and bespoke pieces are supplied separately by quotation and are not available for direct online purchase. Send your length, width or diameter, height and delivery postcode using the custom size enquiry form and we will come back with a price and a realistic lead time within one working day. There is no obligation and nothing to pay for a quotation.
